Hi Ted
Nice to read from you.
The "celeb system" started the pimp my face movement.
Any perfume advert is modified heavily, any catalog selling clothes has been
rectified.
In a world of today, you need to outperform yourself or your creation. But
obviously, few have the talent, me included.
As a consequence, faking. You cannot buy intelligence the way you buy perfume
to hide your arse smell !
Cheers

Hi Aram,
I have no problem with what anyone does to their photos. Only that they, as you
say? Tell viewers it has been photo-shopped! And if they've taken a normal
photo then PHOTO-SHOPPED IT NEAR TO DEATH? They should be honest enough to say
so!
Unfortunately, some shooters have no truth in them and let it go by lying
through their teeth wickedly! Hoping viewers will think they are "incredible
shooters!" When in effect they are just third rate crap artists and liars!
As I've said before. During my 65 years since my first published newspaper
front page photo
Sept. 17, 1951! I have never screwed with my photos other than a slight burning
in around the borders or a slight darkening of clouds. The main area has never
been diddled with. And that will be the case until May 27, 2029 when I hang-up
my gear on my 100 birthday day! See I'm a positive thinker and doer!! ☺
cheers,
Dr.Ted Grant O.C.

I agree with you, Ted, up to a point. If someone wants to manipulate
the H-E-double toothpicks out of an image that is fine with me, but they
should be called graphic artists, not photographers. I have seen so
pretty impressive heavily manipulated photographs, but they have not
tried to hide the fact that they were manipulated. They were honest
about it and called it graphic art. Photography literally means paint
with light. You point the camera in the general direction and record
what light has painted, not what Photoshop has done with that light.
Certain manipulations are fine and indeed necessary since the camera
recording device is not perfect, and since your eye may have seen it a
bit differently. This is the area where each photographer, or editor,
has to draw a line and then be honest in communicating to any audience
they might be communicating with. It is all a continuum from reality to art.
