Thanks to all,

I think the consensus is that it is an exposure problem at time of
taking the shot and perhaps the scanner trying to compensate. Looks
like I have to learn more about how to expose correctly and not rely too
heavily on auto modes while understanding the onboard metering
limitations .. I am glad it is not the camera itself. So much to learn
and so little time. Nice to receive swift and considered responses.

One more question and I know this is perhaps not the right forum however
I wonder if anyone has experience with Leica M cameras. I have used
fixed lens rangefinders before and enjoy the difference. I am seriously
considering expanding my Leica gear to include an M camera and thinking
about the M5. Any caveats ... opinions appreciated. I know this is a
controversial M however there are reasons I am attracted to this
particular Leica.

Thanks again ... time to rethink how I shoot with the R7.
