For one thing, there are a lot of compact digitals with zoom lenses and EVFs which would be more versatile and convenient than an RF. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfx9/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?cameras=panasonic_dmclc1&method=sidebyside One advantage would be the ability to use existing lenses on an Md, but would that advantage be enough to warrant the expense? > And if it is, I hope they will then develop > the R10d. The bulk of the R8/9 is a definite turn-off for me. Then again, I spent most of my 35mm years with Olympus OM-1 & 4 cameras, and appreciate their ergonomics even above the R5 (blasphemy, I know!). An R10d with a full-frame sensor and the form factor of the R5 would be a serious temptation to me! As long as we're dreaming!
