[LRflex] Elmarit-R 28mm Discontinued?

G'day,
Recently picked up an Elmarit-R 28mm f2,8 from Dr. Joseph Yao of Hong Kong
(excellent service, by the way).
During extensive shopping-around I heard this lens is to be discontinued,
with an aspherical model due at the end of the year.
Rumour?
The news came from shop owners who got the word from their Leica rep.
Given the shops I contacted were all in Oz, they probably share one sales
rep. That guy's wondering about the sudden interest in 28's.
