Gary you wrote
Andy - It isn't so much that I want all the latest digital doodads that take
a refresher course in the manual every two weeks to remember. I just want
Leica to have a capture device that isn't lagging so far behind the
technical curve that it's obsolete when it finally arrives. The camera is
more and more just the "input" device in a digital workflow that requires
attention to detail at every step along the path (hmmm . . sounds a little
like the requirements in the darkroom, too). From experience, I know that
the first step in that quality workflow is light coming in the lens at the
front of everything. (well, a good subject helps, too.) And, with all my
investment in those glass Leica "input devices", that's the only reason I'm
still waiting to see what Leica can do with the digital back.

Gary
I also hope that Leica isn't to far down the curve. Both you and I are on the same page as far as what we would like to see. My concern is that if the digital back is indeed to far behind and it doesn't sell we may see the end of Leica. $5000 is a very steep price. I just hope it gives all the bang for the buck that Leica is telling us.
