Hello Ed. Not so many around, I bought one a few weeks ago resaling some Leica equipment to finance it. The firmware yields DIGILUX 1.0 and LENS 1.0. According to Philippe wh has the Lumix, the colors are differents. Difficult to say since it depends on the monitor.... the magazine Amateur PHotographer was able to note differences in the tonal rendering of the two sources, Panasonic and Leica. Difficult for the amateur I am to give a judgement. I like ut for the dials and controls which are derivated from the traditional R system. It looks complex for all the push buttons but those are offering a direct access to a control, no fidling thru menu and sub menu. Although t is only a 7.5 MP, the rendering is very good. It offers to work in RAW mode as well if you like to play with a computer. The JPEG are already good. For exchanging on the net (where a 2MP is enough) the resolution is sufficient, printing a 30cmx40cm yields good results, sufficient. a 50cmx70cm or equivalent can be obtained using a developped pix recorded in raw mode. The zoom lens is not on par to the Reflex R lenses but close enough. And yes, you can (buying an adaptor off fleabay) mount R lenses, manual focus, true aperture. You loose most of the automatism. But it works. a 35mm becomes a 68mm about a 50mm becomes a 100mm Imagine a Summilux 50mm..... Even Tamron lens can be mounted. Here is folder with big files, test of various lenses: http://xavierf.b.free.fr/Temp/Test/ my Fav is: http://xavierf.b.free.fr/Temp/Test/Summicron_35.JPG One of the strengths of this camera is the ability to define FILM PROFILE which are playing on saturation/contrast/resolution And the White balance is rather complete with the possibility to adjust the RVB.....colors. To kuse in some studio work. Practically, provided the chimping is low and the view finder is used, the battery last several days. The live view mode (as per Olympus idea) is handy, especially to "see" the White balance or to fine tune the focus (area x4 or more) in manual with the R lenses. Indeed, the viewfinder is a wee bit dim. Going back to R7 makes you say : "Waaaah". But Autofocus plays its role. I'm rather satisfied with product, the "classical interface" appeals to me. Probably not on par with the Canon EOS 400D but I like it until the R10 comes in :) --------------------------------- Xavier F.
