I liked the bright screen of the R8/R9. But one thing really bothered me: "knobitis". I wrote here about loose dials and buttons before finally selling my R8. Everything that could move on the R8 DID move -- without my ever intending it to move! Especially in the sensory overload environment of aerial photography, I would suddenly notice that the last dozen shots were taken at some ridiculous setting that I had never intended. I even drained the R8 batteries once because something in the camera bag nudged the power switch to on.
When I first hefted the DMR unit attached to the R8, that was it for me. I had no intention of lugging a Crown Graphlex around. So I have assembled the best of two worlds, Leica lenses on the smaller Olympus E-330 (see combo at http://northcoastphotos.com/Lympa.htm ), a revolutionary DSLR that Leica would be wise to consider in its design of future cameras.
