Aram : I couldn't agree more with you.
What struck me while perusing the literature on photonet and other
sites, is that some pros "simply" shoot pictures. And they then trust
some other pro with "processing" (their words) their digital files -
just as in the "good old times". Nothing has changed as you state it.

About manipulation : One individual's "reality" depends on the
instruments they use to perceive and capture their environments. Using
any lense that doesn't show what a human eye actually sees, is
manipulation. I'm no fish, and yet like like fish-eyed views sometimes.
I don't have Tex Avery's big bad woolf's protruding eyes, and though I
like so much to see David's or Douglas' long shots of wild animals.
Thanks for manipulating ;-)

Manipulation is where ART (or is it craftmanship?) steps in; when you
may choose and orchestrate the process, ideally from beginning to the end.
Indeed, isn't Photography about what you give people to see?

Regards (means "the way you look at things" in French) ;-)
