Elliot,

I am certain that every production batch of DMRs incorporate improvements
and "fixes" that incrementally improve the product.

Of course the first units were NOT sold with any Beta designation.  No one
likes to be thought of as a guinea pig or coal mine canary.  The VERY first
ones were loaned to European photographers of name and note.
