Except, as I understand it, the shutter opening in the back of a film camera cannot accommodate a full frame sensor and the attachments needed at the edge of that sensor w/o recessing it behind the film plane, thereby upsetting the focus. A full frame sensor requires a hole larger than the actual sensor.
