If you are going to a workshop, I guess you will go to the best spots at the best times of the day. All I can say the Canyon the Chelly is the only time I have used a graduated neutral density filter to be able to keep the Canyon and the sky above it within the latitude of the film (slide ISO 100). (Although they must be hard to use in a rangefinder...) Initially I thought I would say I'd go with something longer than a 90mm, but looking back at my files most I like best were all done with a 24-85mm zoom. (For those of you curious about some typical pictures of the Canyon, I have posted a Picasa album-- no Leica Gallery for Contax pictures!) <http://picasaweb.google.com/gb.cocoliso/CanyonDeChelly> The one thing I will take with me the next time I go to the desert will be ziplock bags (or any clear plastic bag) to protect camera and lens from the sand while I keep taking pictures... Enjoy your workshop!
