Per DP Review, the new Olympus E-M1 (which I think is on your short list to
replace the venerable E-3) comes with two flavors of autofocus built in:
Contrast Detect (Sensor) and Phase Detect

Autofocus seems to be a mature technology (or -ies) and is influencing many
areas of camera design, which may be obvious to some but it wasn't obvious to
me.
