Thanks for the explanation. I haven't seen such a concise analysis in any
of my references on the plane, and my personal piloting experience falls
well short of that level of performance. I once asked my late father
whether he'd like to own one of those planes, to which he replied, "No,
because they burned 60 gallons per hour!"

The Tuskeegee Airmen do own a P51C, and I got some shots of it that I'll
share if I ever get around to creating a site for them. My first encounter
with that plane was coming nose-to-nose with it on a taxiway at a local
airport. Needless to say, I got out of the way, fast!
