For those who don't know Ted, I've seen the results he gets with two extenders
on the Lietz 280/2.8-R. Phabulous! But Ted will have to show you his results.
I don't have his photos.
But, I too have told his story, when teaching, and some people don't think it's
possible.
So, for proof, here is a shot taken, some 10 years ago, of Ted with his beloved
280/2.8 and both extenders (1.4x & 2x) mounted.
http://www.furnfeather.net/Look/2x2.html
OTOH, while a single 2x on the Telyt 400/6,8 (Thanks, Alex!) works wonders on a
film Leica, when used on a 2x crop factor camera, it results in an effective
1600mm lens that is just too long for use with a monopod. :-(
I know, I've tried!
David.
Hi David,
That was the longest LEICA lens I had at the beginning. Then I moved to? I
think it was a 560MM sliding barrel? Just can't remember these days! :-(
However? The LEICA 280 2.8, a real glass fantastic lens, plus the 2
extenders. 1.4 and the 2x! Brilliant images!
Then I locked the two extenders together and clicked them onto the 280mm.
LEICA TECHNICAL PEOPLE FILLED THEIR PANTS IN FEAR! :-)
"Great cries of not to do it!" Oh they went crazy about quality etc! What the
hell I had already done it and captured incredible images at I think it
was.... 800mm f8.0. Whatever! But they were just great! :-) And I used them
in that fashion with the techies still going crazy about LEICA QUALITY?
HOWEVER????????????
I found out? They had never locked the extenders and prime lens together at
anytime and were merely responding on what they "THOUGHT WOULD HAPPEN?" Stick
with me kid and I'll prove the over techiated folks wrong lots of times! J
Numbers don't always count!
HECK it's still the content what the photo and content is all about!!! Not
all the technical crap!
Oh my goodness, I surely have been wrong many times in the past 65 years
shooting all over the world!
By the same token? I have had a life like damn few others! J Well OK,
Canadians! J
cheers
