David:
The snowy owl series is outstanding - getting that close, the poses with Rose, capturing the gentle behavior - all very nice!

I especially like your headshot of Qaanik for the feather and eye detail. Getting an open-bill shot shows there's a mouth in all those feathers!

Good stuff!

I've never been able to get a satisfying snowy owl shot - this ice-cream scoop with an eyeball is the best I've done:

Off list, there has been a small, but growing, demand for more Qaanik pix.

Qaanik is an amazing owl... enough to make you believe in the Harry Potter version of Owls!

As you'll note, in the earlier shots, Rose had borrowed the trainer's glove to handle Qaanik. But he is so gentle, that he hardly uses those powerful talons. Here, he demonstrates just how gentle he is, even when being handled by strange children! The trainer (not Rose!) holds him on his bare hands, without any difficulty.

Not as good, photographically, but it certainly illustrates the point!

Thanks for looking!
