Arbor Day is Friday, April 29, 2016. It is an environmental holiday,
celebrated in Ohio on the last Friday in April, designed to encourage all
citizens to plant new trees and care for existing trees. Trees help to clean
our air and water, slow climate change and generally feed the human soul.
Through the efforts of Strongsville’s Arborist and Director of Natural
Resources, Jennifer Milbrandt, all second grade students in Strongsville will
receive, on Arbor Day, seedlings to plant.
In honor of Arbor Day, we have purchased three-year-old Norway spruce
seedlings. Some will be planted in Ledgewood’s Community Garden area and some
will be available for residents to plant. They should be in areas protected
from our deer population. Jennifer Milbrandt suggested they could go into pot
that could be positioned close to homes for protection.
If you are interested in any of these seedling, please come to the clubhouse
garage on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, or from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. We hope that at some future date, many of these seedlings will grow
to be planted in common areas throughout Ledgewood.
