hey carol-
yep we have a pair that visit too. the male usually comes late in the
evening and like yours the female rarely comes in now. probably tending
the young ones.

Cardinals are so pretty, and this year, I have a male coming regularly to
my front yard feeder. I see the female sometimes, too, though not as
often.
Some time ago I read that a cardinal is usually first to the feeder in
the
mornings, and the last to be at a feeder in the evenings, just before
dark.
Seems true here both out front and at the feeder in the back yard. I save
my safflower seed to put out at those times so the white-wings don't get
it
all :))
