I have heard that these sessions from Wits LCT Hub are incredibly helpful. Most
of us all have to write and publish. Everyone is in another field, their field
of enactment, and that people from that field who are available to review
papers for journals usually have little understanding of LCT. So this is
something almost all of us face.

We’ve discussed LCT. We’ve read LCT. This week we’re trying something different
…. We’ll be writing LCT.
Over the past two weeks, we rewatched Carol and Lee’s LCT3.5 session on How to
write up work using LCT
(https://youtu.be/6lB7nlyrK-w<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/WLNKCOMKzVTAZBGklUEqEPi?domain=youtu.be>).
Then we looked at draft papers that needed ‘major revisions’ because they used
so much LCT that it obscured the author’s line of argument. We looked at papers
that used LCT successfully to do a specific job – and how the argument of the
paper was enhanced by using “only as much theory as the problem-situation
demands”.
This week, we continue with our theme of Writing LCT, with an online Writing it
Right session. In small groups, we’ll share what we want to write up. It may be
getting started on a new paper; a draft that needs more work; another paragraph
for a PhD chapter. Whatever you need. We will have two focused 45-minute
writing sessions, followed by a time to share what you’ve done with your
writing partners.
There’s no pressure to write up a storm. Even making a start is progress.
Bring your ideas and a cuppa. Let’s write LCT together!
See you at the Hub at 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm (South African time) Wednesday 25 May.
Send us an email if you need more information on how to join.
