*The School Safety and Bullying Prevention Act, Oklahoma House Bill 1661
became effective as of May 20, 2013* *imposing many new requirements that
must be included in your District policy. It also changed the
responsibilities of Safe School Committees. How is your school addressing
these new requirements?*

*Join Rick Shaw of Awareity, as he chats with Tracy Alvarez from Oklahoma
City Public Schools and Tenna Whitsel of Tulsa Public Schools* - sharing
how their schools are effectively meeting these requirements and improving
bullying prevention efforts ongoing.

ü Does your District's bullying policy meet requirements?

ü Have you clearly outlined procedures for students and parents to
anonymously report acts of bullying to school officials?

ü Do all staff know procedures for investigating and documenting incidents
of reported bullying?

ü Have you clearly defined consequences and remedial actions for
perpetrators?

ü Do you have consistent consequences for students who falsely accuse
another as means of retaliation, reprisal or bullying?

ü How are you determining the severity of incidents and potential to
result in future violence?

ü Do you have procedures for notifying parents/guardians of both the
target and perpetrator of documented and verified incidents of bullying?

ü How are you training administrators and school staff in preventing,
identifying, responding to and reporting bullying incidents?
