- Comments: "Small black-and-white type shearwater much smaller than Sooty
seen close in north by itself 30x at 300-400 yards. Flying with wings held
straight, alternating long glides and crisp snappy wingbeats. Upperparts
including tail, rump, upperwings, and dark cap extending to just below eye
level appeared uniform blackish with no discernable patterning, and with
dark extending a bit onto sides of breast. Thin dark bill. Underparts clean
white including chin, throat, central breast, belly, flanks, vent, and
well-seen completely white UT coverts. Central underwings white outlined by
dark under-primaries and thin dark leading and trailing edges. White on
flanks appeared to extend up a small amount towards but not intruding into
the dark rump."
