Subject: [lanse] Kazaa

I think everyone by now must be aware of the spyware/trojan stuff kazaa
=
installs.
Kazaa is to usefull a tool to kill, so i found a method of removeing the
=
nasty component.

---------

1. Add/Remove Programs, select to uninstall B3d projector=20
2. Delete the \Windows\b3d folder=20
3. run regedit=20
4. search registry for "brilliant digital" - delete this entry=20
5. search for b3d - delete all found extensions (assuming you have no =
apps that use the *.b3d extension, if so leave theirs alone)=20
6. go to =
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run - =
delete the "b3dUpdate"=3D" entry=20
7. close regedit, go to \Windows\System32=20
8. look at all the files that start with the letter 'b'=20
9. In XP hover the cursor over each file and delete all with "Company: =
Brilliant Digital". For other OS you can see company by clicking =
properties on each file.=20
10. You HAVE to reboot now=20
11. go to http://www.brilliantdigital.com and select to view one of =
their '3D ads'=20

- if you sucessfully removed all componants u will get a securtiy promt
=
asking if you wish to install B3d projector - click NO! and you are rid
=
of it for good. Hurrah!=20

- if you missed some bits it will automatically reinstall itself and you
=
need to start all over again. D'oh!=20

For those of you who think you got rid of B3d by uninstalling KaZaA, =
guess again, you have to do it the described above.=20
