There is a compatibility/driver issue with Voodoo cards and XP generally. I would wait and get a nice Panenthenailia or whatever it is called?! Shame you are not here @ LANSE - it is rocking at the mo :p Phiebs -----Original Message----- From: list@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:list@xxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jamie Elliott Sent: 05 July 2002 17:43 To: list@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [lanse] Graphics card compatibility with XP Corp Ed Question OK, I'm getting just a little bit sick of reading all these reviews and magazines telling me how great and solid XP is. This maybe true and I do so want to upgrade to this spanky new platform but . I have a Voodoo 5500 PCI card that doesn't have (so i'm told) very good support driver wise. Is this true, does anyone actually know for sure? Any way the question is have there been any releases of Voodoo drivers that fix XP problems? I have scanned the net but came up empty handed. Any one know of the games it has trouble on? Basically, can I upgrade without loosing much ground. I know I need a new graphics card, but I'm waiting for the Panthenalia (bad spelling) card from ATI. With a P4 2.2Ghz processor boasting only 42 million transistors, the panthe-watsit GPU has a cool 80 million under its belt and 64 textures per pass. Woohoo! Any answers would be cool Have an excellent LANSE everyone, wish I could be there.
