I just joined the mailing list and I would like to introduce myself. My
name is Teemu Kivimäki and I'm the founder and CEO of Infrakit.com
construction collaboration cloud.
For us, Landxml seems to be a very important standard for international
infra-projects since it's the only widely supported file format for TIN and
alignments.
The Finnish infra-sector has recently published InfraBIM guidelines (
www.infrabim.fi). These guidelines include the InfraModel file format,
which is based on Landxml 1.2 schema.
I have been involved in specification work for InfraModel, and during this
specification work we encountered one major wish about landxml: Would be
nice if there was an option to have an id parameter for each element. This
would enable designs software to include ids for each design object, be it
a surface or something else. I have not yet checked landxml 2.0 draft,
maybe this has already been taken into account there..
In any case, I would like to say that landxml is a very useful and needed
file format and standard, that has enabled the Finnish infra-sector to
develop a BIM workflow.
