TECHNICHE’10- THE ANNUAL TECHNO-MANAGEMENT FESTIVAL OF IIT GUWAHATI The students of IIT Guwahati organise Techniche, their annual techno-management festival, which will be held from 2nd to 5th of September ‘2010. Techniche provides India’s budding Engineers, entrepreneurs, innovators and technocrats with a platform to showcase their respective skills. Their vision is to usher in a progressive change, their mission is to revolutionize India’s youth, and redefine technology through innovation. Some of the main attractions include the Techniche’10 Industrial Conclave. This brings together high profile technical and industrial intelligentsia from two of the biggest sectors- IT and Pharma, to present, interact and enlighten and inspire the IIT guwahati student community. Also eagerly awaited is The Techniche Lecture Series. It is only here, that eminent scientists, nobel laureates, entrepreneurs, and intelligentsia from around the world deliver lectures on their work, share their experiences and thus greatly inspire the students. This year some of the high profile speakers include Mr Richard M Stallman-the Father of GNU PROJECT, Unix-like operating system and founder of FREE SOFTWARE FOUNDATION; Mr Nathan Schulhof- Father of MP3 Player Industry; Suhas Gopinath-world’s youngest CEO; Ferid Murad-Nobel laureate in medicine, 1988; Kiran Karnik-ex president NASSCOM, and many more. In the events arena, the exhaustive modules include: Robotics- autonomous, semi autonomous, manual, robostunts, arthrobotics; Predefined; Management-with the event Product launch-to bring in innovation in technological entrepreneurship; On the spot and Online which attract large participation from all over the world. Apart from these mainstream events, also eagerly awaited are IITg’s biggest ever Junkyard Wars, the American Parkour mega stunt show, Arthrobotics(walking robotics event). There is something in it for everyone- literally! from gamers, puzzle solvers to programmers. Also organised is Technothlon, the National School Championship-for school students of classes 9th to 12th, it is one of its kind and provides an opportunity to the school students to come and visit the IITG campus to compete with the best from all over the nation. IITians are also reaching out to the society. Along with ‘We Care’(our social initiative), they organise the Guwahati half marathon-with a theme to save the environment, as a step towards fulfilling their social responsibility and contribute towards a sustainable future.
