Dear Delegate,
You are cordially invited to participate in the 2nd edition of BITS
Pilani’s Annual Model United Nations Conference to be held from 12th
-14th February, 2010.
‘MUN’ or Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United
Nations designed to make the world appreciate the relevance of the UN
in this age of globalization. The participants of an MUN deliberate on
current international issues by each adopting the role of a diplomat
of a particular country. Ever since its conceptualization in 1951,
there has been an exponential rise in the number of MUNs being
conducted all over the world.
Having witnessed registration from Dubai, Pakistan and Singapore in
addition to participation from all the major colleges in the country,
BITSMUN'09 was a roaring success.
Its second edition, BITSMUN '10, to be held from February 12-14, is
expected to be one of the biggest MUNs in the subcontinent. With a
prize money of INR 1.5 lakhs and an expected participation of over 400
students from all over the globe, BITSMUN '10 has already received
applications from Oman, UK, USA, Russia, Brazil, Singapore, Sri Lanka,
Pakistan, Nigeria and Dubai.
As an added feature for BITSMUN'10, the organizing team has decided to
accept select applications from schools across the globe.
BITSMUN ’10 shall feature the simulation of the following six councils:
1. The Futuristic Security Council - 2026
2. The General Assembly
3. The Economic and Social Council
4. The Human Rights Council
5. The Commission on Science and Technology for Development
6. The United Nations Environment Programme.
The summit will also witness a lecture series by eminent professors and
experts. Apart from that, a Rock Night to help the delegates unwind and have
a good time at BITS, Pilani. All this is free for the participants.
