Hi all! I've been listening to my Terry McManus "Sunshine Pop" cd which arrived in the mail today! I've got copies of the orignal 45s in pristing condition, and I've got to say, these songs never sounded so good! In all the listening I've done to them over the years, even when digitizing them with a 96-KHz 24-bit pro A/D converter, I have to say that I never EVER heard something which has just about jumped out of the speakers at me. On "Woman Man Land" there appears to be a cello! It's breathtaking! (I'm a major cello fan!) The guitar on this release is so crisp and clean it's as if someone is standing right there playing it in front of you. Baby's Gonna Learn How To Cry is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. I noticed that the vocal sound on several of these tracks is VERY much like early John Woloschuk from some of the early Klaatu recordings. It's obviously a style that was popular in Canada in the early 70s, and I have to say I really really like it! Richard Hess has done a fantastic job coaxing every last bit of sound out of these tapes. (His reputation precedes him, but I never expected it to sound THIS great!) Definitely one of my favorite releases of 2009! Kudos to Bullseye for this release. Dave Bradley Klaatu Webmaster
