[kismac] Join network function questions

Hi,
I'm using an Orinoco silver card with 10.3.4 and KisMac 0.12a (the latest
right ?) When I select a network and select the join network function, what
exactly happens ? I can control the network settings of my internal airport
extreme card from the System preferences where I can set a manual/dhcp
address etc. How can for my Orinoco pcmcia card ?
