Hello I had the following action from July's meeting. (r) Matthew to explore possible amalgamation of KEN with Kent Council meetings I contacted Lorna Ford who is chair of the Kent Policy Officers Group to discuss either: (1) amalgamating the Kent Equality Network and the Kent Policy Officers Group; and/or (2) having joint meetings where we organise (external) presentations on topics of mutual interest for a wide range of officers in Kent Lorna was comfortable with both options and would be happy to discuss this further if we wish to pursue these options. Many thanks to Leela Shanti for taking them. If you know of anyone not included in the recipients list who should be, please forward these minutes to them. Update: Since this meeting decided to set up a trial online network presence through LinkedIn, we have discovered that: 1. It is not possible to use LinkedIn to upload files, such as meeting notes, presentations and reports. 2. Linkedin, like some other social networking platforms is very difficult to access and use if you rely on assistive technology. Those attending the July meeting Strongly believed that as equality professionals, we could not endorse the use of any system that was not fully accessible. 3. One or two people have reported that they were put off signing up to the LinkedIn group because they had reservations about LinkedIn itself. As a result, I have set up an email discussion list at www.freelists.org<//www.freelists.org>. Here's a reminder that, to join the group, you can either visit the list online at: //www.freelists.org/list/kent-equality and subscribe from there, or join by sending an email to: kent-equality-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:kent-equality-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> putting the word 'Subscribe' in the subject slot. Do not type anything into the rest of the message. I am still trying to work out how to generate welcome message from the list owner. This would be sent out automatically once someone successfully subscribes to the group. This means that some people have not been certain whether or not they have successfully joined the group. Until I can generate an automatic welcome message, I will do my best to send one out manually to anyone who subscribes. If you have trouble subscribing, please write to me privately.
