To Whom It May Concern:

Suzanne and I married on Sept.11, 1971. I started at JFK on Sept. 1, 1972 We
had no children at that time. (I did have hair, even facial at times!)

Since then, five children have been added to our family, four were baptized
here at JFK, and one was married in one of the courtyards.

We have completed 42 years at Kennedy and in September Suzanne and I will
celebrate 43 years together.

Is that life in a rut? I answer loudly: NO. It has been a fantastic journey.
Yes, there have been ups and downs, way more ups than downs.

All of you, and those who preceded you, have contributed significantly to those
ups. The students have also contributed to the ups

although, they may have caused some downers.

By far, the biggest downer is leaving, realizing that the educational world has
passed one by. As my high school principal said to me

when we taught together at Jesuit High in Portland in the 60's, "Mike, I'm
getting too old for this".

There is no word for "retirement" in the Jesuit vocaulary. They don't retire.
God retires them through the old aging process, or through health.

I don't think He is just whispering in my ear.

I am grateful to all of you for your love, for your support, and, currently,
for your prayers. You have contributed significantly to my life.

I am a better person because of you.

God love you,

Mike Burris
