   This interactive feature demonstrates, step-by-step,
   the sequence of events that results in Type Ia and

   Tour the Earth's galactic neighborhood in this
   interactive feature that takes you on a virtual
   three-dimensional tour of nearby galaxies and
   galaxy clusters. (Virtual Reality Modelling Language
   plug-in required; non-VRML version available.)
   (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

   Moving Targets
   Learn how the Doppler effect works and determine
   stellar velocities in this online activity.
   (Flash plug-in required; non-Flash version
   available.) (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

   How Big is the Universe?
   In this article, cosmologist Brent Tully addresses
   several aspects of the universe, including whether
   it has a boundary. An animation shows how galaxies
   separate with the passage of time in three different
   universe models. (Grades 9-12)

   Spin a Spiral Galaxy
   Spin a spiral galaxy on two axes in this
   interactive feature, learning how a galaxy can
   appear to be elliptical or round or some other
   shape, depending on your vantage point. (QuickTime
   plug-required.) (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

   Teacher's Guide
   In this printable activity, students model how
   scientists use indirect observations to define
   problems that are not directly measurable.
   (Grades 6-8)

   NOVA News Minute
   Use this news clip to introduce students to a science
   topic related to this week's program. Available when
   the program airs. Transcript included. (QuickTime or
