NCLB may be end of free tutoring.
Although ESEA/NCLB does not clearly state that school districts classified
as "in need of improvement" are prohibited from providing supplemental
services to their students, the U.S. Department of Education has ruled that
they cannot do so. As a result, many school districts that have been
providing or were planning to provide free tutoring to students are being
forced to stop, creating confusion for parents and educators and raising
questions about the quality of the services being offered to students.

Where are the hate groups?
A map from the SPL Center that shows where the groups are and what types
they represent. This is a real eye-opener and a great way to teach about
tolerance this month.

Hate Sites Bad Recruiting Tools
Online hate is as much a part of the Web as e-commerce, porn sites, and
portals. From neo-Nazis and skinheads to the Ku Klux Klan, almost every hate
group in America has its own website.

Still looking for students to help our soldiers.

Messages to Soldiers in Iraq.

There is still an opportunity to get students involved by simply having them
put together small cards and paper roses to be sent to the soldiers in Iraq.
I great service, costs the school nothing but postage, and gives students an
opportunity to express themselves as well as doing community service. Put
together by my friend and fellow National Hall of Fame Teacher and cancer
survivor Dr. Larry Baran. For more details check out www.usarosebuds.com or
