The unmanned Russian craft keeps the crew supplied with food, fuel, water, and more. K-4 Lesson 1 - How High Does It Fly? To make a model of the Earth's atmospheric layers, and to graph where different aircraft, satellites, and spacecraft operate in it. Lesson 2 - Bring Me Something Good! To think about life on a Space Station, and to write about items that would be missed from Earth. 5-8 Lesson 1 - Layers Of The Atmosphere: To use a KWL chart and a model of the atmosphere to learn about the different atmospheric layers. Lesson 2 - Scientific Shortcuts: To use scientific notation to write the different wavelengths and frequencies of the waves of the electromagnetic spectrum. 9-12 Lesson 1 - Integrating To Find The Station: To integrate a differential equation to compute the exact location of the International Space Station (ISS) for a Progress rendezvous. Lesson 2 - Great Ranges Of Gamma Rays: To compare the sensitivity of various gamma ray satellites. Topic 2: Is Stress Making You Sick? Research on how the stresses of spaceflight affect the immune system will help scientists better prepare astronauts for their experiences, and could have benefits on Earth, as well. K-4 Lesson 1 - Tag, You're Sick! To understand how the immune system fights germs. Lesson 2 - Spreading Sparkly Germs: To understand how infectious diseases are spread. 5-8 Lesson 1 - Who's Got The Flu? To determine when the flu is most prominent in the United States. Lesson 2 - Please Pass The Disease: To simulate how infectious diseases are spread. 9-12 Lesson 1 - Stress Can Have Calculus: To determine the slope of the line that defines the balance between stress and performance.
