http://www.educationworld.com/a_lesson/writing_bug/writingbug060.shtml

Boat?" Choose one of those tunes and turn that song into a holiday song by
writing new words for it. Write a new name for your new tune. Be prepared to
sing your song to your classmates. Invite your classmates to sing the song as a

MORE NEW RESOURCES!

Strategies That Work: Teaching About Current Events
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/strategy/strategy017.shtml
The statistics we read about students' awareness of world events are
frightening. If students are to be more aware of the world in which we live,
every teacher must play a role in building students' current-events knowledge.
A
strong current events program can also teach essential skills related to
writing, geography, and history.

Voice of Experience: Viable Unions Depend on You
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/voice/voice105.shtml
When Max Fischer was a new teacher he shied away from the teacher union. Today,

he is vice president of his local. It is with good reason -- a handful of good
reasons, as a matter of fact -- that he says he will always be an active
member.

Dr. Ken Shore's Classroom Problem Solver
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/shore/shore018.shtml
Dr. Ken Shore offers six tips for dealing with students who talk back.

Teacher Feature: Starring David Anderson
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/teacher_feature/teacher_feature016.shtml
In Anderson's Handprints Across The World project, students trace their hands
and make a handprint that shows the individuality of each person.

Contests: Young Naturalist Award
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/contests/
The American Museum of Natural History sponsors this competition in which
students plan a scientific expedition -- "a journey into the natural world"
where they investigate a question related to biology, earth science, or
astronomy."

Sites to See: December Holidays
http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/sites/sites013.shtml
These online resources will help you incorporate the holiday into your real
learning activities -- and provide a little fun as well. Included: A dozen Web
sites providing educational resources for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas.

Interactivity
http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/interactivity/index.shtml
The Wright Stuff is a one-day project honoring Orville and Wilbur Wright's
1903
flight.

A "Signature Event": The Autograph Auction as a School Fundraiser
http://www.educationworld.com/a_admin/admin/admin335.shtml
As a collector of celebrity autographs, Manor Hill Elementary's Marty Kelsey
saw
a potential event that would be entertaining, require little investment, and,
hopefully, raise ample funds -- the Celebrity Autograph and Shoe Auction!
Included: Tips for holding a successful autograph auction or other fundraising
event!

Singing for Societal Change... Again
http://www.educationworld.com/a_issues/chat/chat086.shtml
Disrespect has become rampant in U.S. society, according to singer/songwriter
activist Peter Yarrow of the trio Peter, Paul & Mary. Yarrow's curriculum,
Don't
Laugh at Me, teaches children to respect themselves and others. Included: A
description of the Don't Laugh at Me curriculum.

Educators Review 30-Minute Websites for Teachers
http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech/tech182.shtml
30-Minute Websites for Teachers is a Web-based tool that gives educators --
with
no knowledge of HTML or Web page design -- an easy way to create and maintain
their own Web sites. Included: Teacher and student comments about the software.
