QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should
have an equal opportunity to develop our talent."

-  President John F. Kennedy

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

1. ACTIVITY OF THE DAY

LET'S WRITE A STORY!
http://prek.dhs.org/lesson.php?num=33

To encourage active imaginations and group participation
with identifiable outcomes, try this cooperative, whole
class activity. Give your students a story prompt, and
then have them raise their hands for contributions to
what comes next. You may have to prompt them further--
suggestions are included here. You will write down their
ideas and show how they can be collected into words and
sentences to create their very own story. When the writ-
ten story is finished, assign a page for each student to
illustrate, then make photocopies for the whole class to
take home. You can also tie into holiday or seasonal
themes with this lesson plan as a special project.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

2. THEMATIC UNITS

FALL PLAY:
http://www.thepreschoolconnection.com/fall9.html

Get ready to hibernate--in your classroom. Or bring in
some sacks of packing peanuts, along with plastic rakes,
to let your students rake up the fall leaves. Discuss
these two elements of autumn as students practice each
task.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

3. TECHNOLOGY AND TOTS

CAN YOU PLACE ME?
http://games.funschool.com/game.php?g=1022&s=1&category=0&level=1

Take a look at the seasons with this online game, where
preschool students will place a bare tree with the winter
scape, or a tree in full leaf with the summer scene. A
snowman, flowers, birds, sun, and snow must all be placed
according to where they belong.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

4. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR

PRINTABLE STICKERS:
http://www.funschool.com/printables/print_st.php

You can buy the sheets of pre-made, blank stickers to
create your own. This site offers a wide variety of
printable stickers for student worksheets, rewards,
charts, etc.

3-D CLIPART:
http://www.mothergoose.com/BaaBaaArt/3D.htm

Humpty-Dumpty is here, along with Mary's lambs, Baa-
baa sheep, the man in the moon, and more.

5. NUMBERS AND LETTERS

ALPHABET CHAINS:
http://www.mothergoose.com/ColorCut/alChain.htm

Print out five pages of alphabet letters for each
student. They will cut the alphabet strips, letter by
letter, and then connect them into a loop with glue or
tape. Loop the next letter through in proper sequence
to create some great alphabet chains, with each letter
illustrated with pictures of words which begin with that
letter.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

6. LESSONS AND SKILLS

LEAF SEARCH AND SORT:
http://prek.dhs.org/lesson.php?num=50

Help promote early math skills with this fall activity.
Preschoolers will collect different colors of fall leaves--
have them bring leaves from home if you cannot arrange a
nature walk or field trip to the local park--and then cre-
ate a leaf chart. Students will paste their leaves under
each kind found to classify and count by shape and color.

NUT SORTING AND MATCHING:
http://www.thepreschoolconnection.com/fall2.html

How many categories can your students identify to sort
and classify a healthy variety of nuts? See what suggest-
ions they bring--color, shape, size--and also suggest tex-
ture, talk about the type of tree from which they origin-
ate, and crack open the different varieties to show your
preschoolers what's inside as well.

http://www.funschool.com/printables/print_ctd.php
