* Utah Balks at NCLB
The Republican-dominated Utah House recently voted to prohibit the state's 
education authorities from using any local money to comply with the federal No 
Child Left Behind Act. Bill supporters said NCLB impinges on the state's right 
to set an education agenda and the compliance cost is too high.

* Celebrating Presidents' Lives
First graders at Franklin Elementary School in Kirkland, Washington, became a 
living U.S. "presidential wax museum." The students dressed as U.S. presidents, 
then came to "life" when someone touched a dot on their hands.

* Students Use Foreign Language Skills Creating French Valentines
Students at Rapid Run Middle School in Ohio recently put their foreign language 
skills to work by
