OK, cool. After I got back from class I burned CD 1 for you. I'll burn
some more copies for anyone else who is curious about Mandrake.

games.gci.net has a lot of cool stuff on it, and (especially if you have a
GCI cable modem) is a very fast link. One of the sysadmins for it is a
regular on the aklug list. I get my OpenOffice.org downloads from there. I
don't know any of the details on how games.gci.net was started, who pays for
it, etc. I just know it's there. (And I'm not even a gamer!)

There are some other Alaska mirrors. The Alaska Linux Users Group has a
mirror at ftp.aklug.org, which I believe is currently hosted at the UAA
library. (At least the mailing list is there, don't know about the rest.)
The latest RedHat and Slackware are there, and it looks like the latest
FreeBSD as well.

The UAF Linux Users Group also has a mirror, at linux0.cs.uaf.edu, but your
best bet is to connect to that on the UAS campus. It can get pretty slow
once you get off campus. Off campus, I get to the point where the
connection to 137.229.25.160 just dies... If you're a student though, it's
cool. The lab machines have CD burners, so bring some blanks and spare
time.

There's probably a few more Alaska mirrors that I don't know about.

Cheers,

James
