Duane,

You don't specify which version of RedHat you are running, however they
should all be more or less the same. I have a REdHat 7.2 server
running, and this information is valid for that release.

The file you are looking for is
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 (for eth0). The last part of
the filename reflects the interface you are modifying. If you only
have one network card installed, ifcfg-eth0 is the file you need. If
you have additional cards, you may be looking for ifcfg-eth1, etc.

There should be a line in that file that looks like this:

IPADDR=192.168.0.1

Changing the address and then issuing the command

/etc/init.d/network restart

will apply the change. (If you are doing this remotely via telnet or
ssh, you may lose your connection.)

I am forwarding this reply to the Juneau-LUG mailing list, where there
are people who are more familiar with the latest versions of RedHat.
If RedHat has changed the file locations, or has an easy to use
configuration tool, they will be better able to help you.
