JLUGers:

I wrote to Doc Searls as one of the geek cruise organizers earlier this
week and offered to host a lunch at my home on Monday Sept 15, the day
the ship is in town. I thought it would be good to show them some
Alaskan hospitality and get to know some new folks and talk some geek
talk. It appears we have a plan in the works, to which JLUGers are
invited. I realize midday is not the best time for working folks, but
if the regular meeting at the library is in a room for only 8 people,
maybe we can spread things out.

My van holds 6 besides me. So I can pick up & deliver that many
cruising geeks to the dock. We need to know their time constraints.
I've got a baby webber & will supply burgers, brauts, and a case of
Amber. Others can supplement whatever you want to bring (smoked salmon,
shrimp, crab, chips, soda, deserts, ?) We can't match the ship's
cuisine but that's not the point. We can stress test my 256/64 cable
WLAN. If someone has a hub and a 25' ethernet cable, that might help.

If the out-of-town geeks are interested and have time, we could arrange
some sightseeing: a drive out the road, to the glacier, north Douglas,
the brewery or wherever.

Please let me know if you would like to join us. Give me a call or an
email. 780-6046
-Jamie
