Hi,

I've been doing stuff like this for a while but on freshmeat they have a
great article on setting up squid and two network cards in a bridge setup.

with iptables just grab the information as it goes over the bridge ask
squid about it and return cache results to make browsing faster. The nice
thing about this is it requires no changes to your existing infrastructure
just build it and plug it in.

Also squid has some various other plugins such as adzapper to zap all ads
as they go through and scan everything through clamav before it hits your
browser so you have no web pages viruses. (I haven't used the virus
scanning plugin but I've thought about trying it).

Probably a fun little project with some use by picking up a machine at
state surplus.
