I personally can't read DVDs.  I have an older Dell laptop that doesn't even 
have a CD-R!  However most of the Windows users have DVD players - in factmany 
of the  machines here spend 90% of their time playing movies.

Incoming mail isn't inspected that often, it's the outgoing stuff they're 
worried about.  (Someone sending home a grenade through the mail, etc.) Plastic 
cases are fine, put them into a ziplock.  Also, Baghdad isn't very dusty.  The 
other CD's I got arrived when we were in Kuwait, which is the classic 
sand-to-the-horizon desert people think of.  That was VERY dusty.  There's a 
lot of water and plants here close to the rivers.
