Keep in mind that those are attempts at building ACL support, the
maintainers of the XFS file system have fully implemented POSIX ACLs, XFS
has long supported ACLs.

Last time I checked, oh yes, here it is...

This is what I would recommend http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=36
this is probably one of the more stable platforms for Samba and ACL support,
being that you even care for ACL support.

Just format it FAT32 and forget about it, then you can plug it into
everything (Well, almost everything) and you don't have to worry about
anything. Concentrate on making the FW/i.Link work correctly.

Someone else trying to do what you are doing.

PS. Don't call Sony and ask about Firewire, they'll say, it's i.Link moron,
then hang up. I guess that Apple has the Firewire name.

Any file system he wishes.

ext3 also supports ACLs with the 2.6 kernel, or 2.4 kernel with patches -
SuSE include the 2.4 patches by default, perhaps other distributions.
According to SuSE "ACL support on Linux is available for the Ext2, Ext3, IBM
JFS, ReiserFS, and SGI XFS file system".

Cheers,

James
