[juneau-lug] VMWare free to LUG members

All JLUGers,
At the meeting last night were discussing VMware and found that several 
of us already use it and like it.  Jake went out to their web site & 
found some that they still are promoting it to LUG members with

Although Juneau-LUG doesn't have a president, I went ahead and applied 
in behalf of our group.  They haven't responded yet, but I'll post again 
when they do. 

Maybe we should do a VMware demo at the next meeting?

Here what I wrote to them:

    Dear VMware,

    I would like to clarify my request to participate in your LUG
    program.  Our group does not have elected officers or bylaws or
    dues.  We simple meet regularly and talk about common interests.  So
    for the record, I am not posing as "president" of Juneau-LUG (as we
    don't have one), but simply as a representative of our group.

    One of the founding members is listed as the "contact" at linux.org
    and that is James Zuelow.   He is presently serving in the national
    guard in Iraq and participates via email when he can.

    In our meeting tonight we had a lively discussion on the merits of
    VMware.  Several of us have experience using it and were raving to
    the others.  I recalled that you had offered a special deal to LUG
    members and someone else jumped online and said - "Looks like they
    still do" - hence my request tonight.

    I have used VMware since version 3 ( or was it 2?) and found highly
    useful and productive in a number of ways and usually end up
    promoting it to anyone who will listen.  The other LUG members with
    VMware experience were also very positive about it.  I expect most
    of the other members will be very interested in trying it out. 
    Expect, perhaps, those with older, slower machines.  I do believe
    most of our group are likely to be big advocates of VMware and your
    support of our group will not be misplaced.
