James, I showed up at about 5:00 and the party was in full swing. I spoke with Aaron for some time about setting up ties with the UAS gaming club. He was most interested in getting a UAS Linux club up and running. AFter talking with a number of the people there I think this may be the best course. According to them we would only need 5 student signatures. The president of the club (the one able to disperse the $300 a year given by the U) would have to be a student taking at least one class. I plan to get a small flyer made up and see about getting some student signatures. I think we could at least find 5 people in the UAS gaming club that would be interested. I had to leave a bit early in the night and I was unable to get the signatures then, so I plan to either contact some of the members directly or post a sign up and contact sheet around campus. AS for the student president of the club if anyone currently on this list would like to volunteer for this position that would be great. I can't take any classes untill at least next semester and I could possibly talk my wife into it :) However I thinks someone active in the group would be a better option. Once we have the room situation sorted out I would like some help in figuring out a good date for the install-fest. I've also thought that perhaps we should call it a Linux boot camp.... From what I saw last night at the UASGC most people have Linux installed already but are helpless when it comes to actually using the thing. Perhaps we could give a beginners intro after we do a few installs. ------------------------------------ This is the Juneau-LUG mailing list.
