Most (all?) the new Garmin models do have usb. If your pcmcia serial
adapter is still pretty new, is there any chance of getting your money
back? I got a serial - usb cable for $15
http://sewelldirect.com/usbtoserial.asp (I see they cost $18 now). It
came with a windows driver on cd, but linux doesn't need one.
