I just picked up a VERY NICE Lexmark Optra Lx+ postscript printer from
State Surplus for $30. I happened to pick the only one without an
ethernet port (didn't realize till I got home).

These printers are printing pages that are skewed to the left - meaning
the print image does not line up on the screen. However I found a menu
setting that controls that, and returned mine to normal. Also, at
Surplus the one I had was leaving a lot of extra toner on the paper,
generating smudged printouts. After I replaced the paper at home
everything is crisp and flawless. I believe the other two printers are
in good condition as well - it's just that the average person doing a
test print will not see a good result on paper.

For $30, if you can get downtown before 3:30pm grab one of the remaining
two!

Stats for the machine I picked up:

Postscript (a must for *nix)
Duplex built in (a must for me)
20MB memory (+16MB "Duplex Memory")
2 250 sheet paper trays
(one of the remaining printers only has one tray)
340 watts max power
20 watts energy save power
And mine only has parallel/serial connections, the other two at State
Surplus have RJ-45 connections (didn't test for ethernet or token ring
though).

Hope someone sees this in time, they will probably be gone next week!

Cheers,

James

PS - also several IBM PC-365 Dual Pentium Pro (only one CPU installed)
with 2GB/4GB HDD 10Mb/s Ethernet for $50.
