I've updated the web page with the September meeting info, such as we know it.
We need to figure out a date that is acceptable to everyone.

I've also put up a proposed topic of DHCP & dynamic DNS. I figured that it
would me more instructive if we actually set up something to USE the DNS info,
and Apache virtual hosts work great for that purpose.

If you're not quite sure what a virtual host is, do a DNS lookup on
www.juneau-lug.org and www.zuelow.net, and you'll get the idea. Those are
examples of name based virtual hosts, in which Apache figures out which web
site you want to see by looking at the host name in the URL. If you don't
provide a host name (say you just entered the IP address of the server), you
get the first site listed in the httpd.conf file.

Anyway, the Apache thing is just something that I threw out there. If someone
wants to do an alternate project we could switch it to that. And of course if
we get enough people, we can do it in addition to the Apache setup. (As a
failsafe, if we only get a couple of people to show up I will bring a
ready-made Apache setup on a floppy so we can demo the DNS without having to
build the server setup.)

The important thing is to find a date that everyone can attend. I will be
unavailable the weekend of September 20-22, but should be able to make it just
about any other weekend day or weekday evening.

Cheers,

James
