So as I was wheeling my portable into the garage, I was thinking about next
meeting.

Instead of giving a presentation on DHCP & dynamic DNS, I was thinking that we
could just set up a network. People interested in the DHCP/DNS aspect could
set that up, and (for example) we could set up an Apache server with virtual
domains, or a mail server, or anything that could use the DNS info and
demonstrate it.

It would be a little more hands on, and I think more interesting. Our meetings
have been running 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and I think that's enough time to complete
the project and get in all the small talk if I bring in three or four basic
install boxes (Linux installed, but not configured beyond a user account and
making sure all the hardware works). I'll hit up state surplus for another
couple of monitors.

We could let the newer users handle the setup with some guidance from people
who've been there, done that. I think actual keyboard time would help teach
the concepts a little better than my lecture technique.

Ideas?

James
