OK, I get the hint. Subtle though it was. :) I would love some help on the web page. I haven't updated it in quite some time. I would like to keep the same theme though. Not necessarily the one we have now, but definitely a page with a sameness that shows on every page. What we could do is maybe assign a separate page to different individuals. I haven't had any new nibbles on the membership lately. Have we run the well dry? As far as the Email account, I forward everything to the group with the exception of spam....spam spam spam spam......sorry, Michael Palin took over for a second. If you'd all like the sp...adds, I can forward those on. When's the next meeting? Anyone find a great Email app (like Outlook) yet? Something with less than 39 bugs would be nice. Talk to you all soon. -Jim -----Original Message----- From: juneau-lug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:juneau-lug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of James Zuelow Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2001 7:25 PM To: juneau-lug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [juneau-lug] Re[2]: Update Stuff On Sat, 14 Jul 2001 10:39:32 -0800 bdk <bdk@xxxxxxx> wrote: > > What kind of admin functions are left unclaimed? Hmm - newsletter, web page, etc. What would you like to do? Right now I'm holding the domain name for the web page, and will continue to donate the cost of doing so for the forseeable future. And I set up this list (meaning I did the google search to find a free server) and administer it if anything needs to be done. Jim Barber is paying for the actual web space on GCI, and I think he'll continue to do so even when he's so busy we never hear from him (like now). Jim also keeps an eye on the jlug@xxxxxxx email account, and is the primary contact for new members - although nobody is keeping a master list of members, which is probably an important thing. I have a MySQL database of members that has all of three names - mine, Jim's, and Hans'. Never got around to updating it after the last meeting. Both Jim and I have signed up for various LUG things - the NewRiders LUG program, RedHat, O'Reilley, etc. and we'll probably keep handling that stuff. However aside from an entry at www.juneau.com, there's been no local advertising. So there's actually quite a bit that someone can do and/or take over. I've already mentioned coming up with HTML content for the web page. Scheduling meetings and finding meeting space (reserving conference rooms at the Library, etc.) is an important one that can be handled in just a few minutes a month. > > I've also got a ibm docking station, type 3547-003 that I picked up from > surplus that won't work w/ my laptop, so I can let it go for what I got it > for, $15 if anyone is interested. Just today I saw one that couldn't boot, and they can't bypass the hard drive without docking it. If they had a docking station. . . -- Cheers, James ------------------------------------ This is the Juneau-LUG mailing list.
