I have difficulty attending Monday meetings during the year, and I've only
been to a couple of the meetings, so my responses may not hold much sway.
Still, here goes...

Demos would certainly be nice, however I don't really feel like I'm in a
position to demand them, as I don't really have the technical experience to
contribute any of my own.

Most of the questions that I've had recently have been fairly
distribution-specific. It seems that the JLUG types that I've met seem to
be oriented more around Debian than anything else, and less apt to answer
Gentoo-related questions... and the Gentoo community is exceptional. Posts
to the Gentoo forums generally have multiple responses within the day, and
there are always people around that are familiar with the problems I'm
running into.

I'm probably too new at this to be of much use answering questions.

Um, probably more LUG business than anything else... coordination of
meetings, arrangement for use of library items, asking someone for copies of
CD's, and that sort of thing. While I'd say that technical questions should
be welcome, there are probably other venues from which users could expect
more response.

Until having read the response from Carlin Kartchner, I didn't think so, but
he may have had a point that the forum format might be easier to read than
the mailing list. Would a phpBB solution work better than this list? Of
course, I realize that would mean additional strain on James' boxes, rather
than on freelists.org, and I don't mind using this list... but it's
something to think about.

It's a nice option, but personally, I wouldn't really have use for such
webspace.

Um, I would think that the list (or forum?) would be the main method of
information exchange for the LUG. The site should probably just have some
basic Q and A stuff (What is Linux? What is a LUG?), maybe an announcement
of the date, time, and location of the next meeting, a link to the
list/forum, and also links to any items, like scripts or binaries, that
couldn't easily be distributed via mailing list.

No obvious ones, except in my answer to number 6a.

Perhaps we could elect officers? This might give people a greater sense of
responsibility for LUG affairs. We could do it either at a meeting, or, to
get a wider voting pool, on the list or the web or something.
