Hi Nels!
Some of those athlon boards have fan sensors hooked up to them, so if
the motherboard detects no fan running it will immediately shutdown.
The behavior it is exhibiting matches exactly that phenomenom.

Try verifying the fan sensor sometimes if your CPU fan is not plugged into
sensor 1 this problem will occur as well.
